Must Eat Food – Duck Soba of Ginza, Japan

A rainy day stumble-upon at this delicious duck soba shop called “Ginza Kamo Soba Kyudaime Keisuke” in Ginza, Tokyo, Japan…

When we talk about Ginza in Tokyo, Japan, it is almost always about the famous Tsukiji Fish Market (which they would have shifted come October 2018!), the food around the Tsukiji area, the upper class shopping extravagant, the latest fashion / trends and HQs of big brands and multiple Michelin star restaurants in the area.

So on one evening as the rain started pouring, we were pleasantly surprise to stumble upon this super delicious duck soba shop! It is even more appealing as there’s no tourists, mostly locals having their meals in the shop.

As it was the first time we were there, we ordered their best seller noodle. It comes with the Japanese word “人気”, pronounced as “nin-ki”.

Let’s try some Japanese conversation:

“Ano sumimasen, ichiban ninki no soba wa docchi desu ka?” // Excuse me, which is the most popular soba?

The waitress will probably assist you when they aren’t so busy, otherwise you have to put money in on your own and select the button.

This is a brothy noodle dish, made with duck as the ingredient. It has a strong herby taste and savoury hot soup. Accompany that with springy soba, tempura at the sides and egg. It is a dish to be reckon with! I am really promoting this duck soba, because you don’t get to see many variety of Japanese food aside from the usual yummy sushis, yakiniku, and tempura.
